The American Heart Association presents the hospital with the Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline awards for proven dedication to best practices and life-saving care

(Huntington Beach, CA – November 15, 2023) — Huntington Beach Hospital has received the American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline achievement awards for demonstrating commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.

Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a stroke or heart attack, and heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the United States, respectively. Studies show patients can recover better when providers consistently follow treatment guidelines.

Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline put the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest evidence- and research-based guidelines. Huntington Beach Hospital qualified for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to improving quality care.

“Huntington Beach Hospital is committed to improving care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely and proper care for patients who experience heart attacks and strokes,” says Dan Brothman, Chief Executive Officer at Huntington Beach Hospital. “The Mission: Lifeline and Get With The Guidelines programs help our teams put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis, which helps us ensure more people in Huntington Beach experience longer, healthier lives.”

This year, Huntington Beach Hospital received these achievement awards:

  • GWTG® Heart Failure Gold Plus
    • Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
  • GWTG® Stroke Silver Plus
    • Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

In addition to the Get With The Guidelines Awards, Huntington Beach Hospital recently received Specialty Excellence Awards by Healthgrades placing the hospital in the top 10 percent of the nation for Patient Safety and five-star ratings for Hip Fracture Treatment. These achievements place Huntington Beach Hospital in the upper echelon of hospitals nationally for specialty care and reflect the hospital’s commitment to consistently delivering the best care possible.
